'The Blues' will win!!!

(However, whether that is 'les bleus' or 'gli azzurri' remains to be seen ... )

OK! Je suis d'accord! That fence is getting a little splintery.

Call me old-fashioned, but I don't really want to see the Cup go to a team renowned for spitting at opponents and disgraceful 'diving' for penalties, from a nation racked with institutionalised match-fixing, and a general unsportsman-like attitude.

So come on 'les (vieux) bleus'...

They might be old but they have experience

I hope they win too!!!! They should be called 'les blancs' though, they no longer seem to be wearing their blue uniforms.

Actually I was amused to read that, not only are the French team a little on the old side, but a long lensed camera apparently caught Zidane enjoying a crafty fag (transatlantic disclaimer: this being a surruptious cigarette, rather than a machiavellian homosexual

['une clope' en français]) just before the game against Portugal (which the French went on to win).

In this age of super-fit, performance-enhanced athletes, it is at least amusing to think that one can still get to the top, while still enjoying those life-shortening vices...

Amusing considering that Portugal was given out to for smoking before their match against Angola (I think that's the right match).

I'm going against the grain here--I think it will be the Italians. A litle corruption doesn't faze me--come on, I live in DC!
